Glossary
Nigel Farage - A British politician and broadcaster who has served as Leader of Reform UK since June 2024.
EU - European Union. An economic and political union of 27 countries.
Referendum - A direct vote by the population of a country on a particular law or issue.
Rebate - A refund to a person or group who has paid too much.
Single currency - When nations share one currency, such as various EU members who all use the euro as their national currency.
Schengen - The Schengen area is a zone in Europe with no border controls, allowing for the free movement of people.
Norway - A country in Scandinavia in northern Europe.
Switzerland - A country in central Europe, known for mountains, lakes and skiing.
Single market - Also known as a common market. When a group of countries agree to remove trade barriers, so border regulations do not apply to goods travelling between the countries.
Reform UK - A right-wing populist party in the UK. It has support from Nigel Farage and used to be called the Brexit Party.
Eurosceptic - Sceptical of the benefits of being part of the European Union.
