How to use The Day in your school

Teacher using TD on whiteboard

The Day’s topical stories link to the curriculum wherever possible, allowing teachers to connect their subjects to real-world events.

Using The Day in form time or during normal classes couldn’t be easier. No preparation is required. You can either go to the home page and see today’s edition with a range of content that is “hot from the press”. Or you can use our menus to find recent stories suitable for a huge range of curriculum subjects and topics.

Getting started

Step one: Log in.

Click the “log in” button in the top right-hand corner of the website. You can then access your subscription by entering your username and password in the relevant fields. You can also log in by using your unique URL ID.

If you are unsure of your login details get in touch with a member of our support team at support@theday.co.uk. You might have a generic school login for school-wide use or an individual login which you can set up by following the video tutorial below.

Step two: Find the relevant resource.

Use the drop-down menus to filter content by ‘resources’, ‘topics’, or ‘subjects’. The search bar is also a great tool to help you find specific content.

Step three: Get your critical thinking hat on.

At The Day, we believe the right question matters more than the right answer. Most of our resources include ready-to-use activities to help children and teachers develop the thinking, speaking, and writing skills to build a better world.

Our Resources

We offer resources for all levels from key stages one to five and our primary/secondary classified toggle means you can filter out articles intended for older readers. So you have peace of mind that your students are accessing resources written for their age.

The Day's Topics

Use the broad newspaper topics to filter resources by topics of interest and significance.

Browse subjects

Our resources can be used across the entire school. The ability to filter articles by subject area makes it quick and easy for teachers to find content relevant to their lessons.
