You may have seen a dodo in a museum: a short, squat bird with big feathers and a large beak. If so, you might want to think again. No full dodo remains exist today — so you will have seen a fake. Those fakes are modelled on paintings — but the paintings were by artists who had never seen a dodo in real life.
