Today, we celebrate four people from around the world who have done heroic things in 2023.
The man who tackled an attacker Brazilian delivery man Caio Benicio saw a man attacking people on the street in Ireland.
Caio jumped off his bike and ran towards the man. He used his helmet to save the people in danger, without thinking about his own safety.
The man who took on a dictatorship Jimmy Lai stood up for freedom in Hong Kong. He has often spoken against the rulers in China who are showing their power in Hong Kong. Now, officials have put him on trial.
The doctor who refused to leave his patients Hammam Aloh was a 36-year-old doctor in Gaza when the conflict began between Israel and Hamas, which rules Gaza. He refused to leave his patients behind, even though working there was very dangerous. He died in the conflict while visiting his parents nearby.

The girl who gave her life for her friend Elianne Andam died while trying to protect another girl. The two were on their way to school in London when Elianne stepped in to protect her friend.
Elianne was just 15. Her family said she was clever, thoughtful and kind.
