Volodymyr Zelensky - Zelensky won more than 73% of the vote to become Ukrainian President in April 2019. Incredibly, he once starred in a satirical drama in which his character accidentally wins the Ukrainian presidency.
Tariffs - A form of tax on imports.
Transgender - Someone whose gender identity (what they feel inside) does not match the gender identity they were assigned at birth (based on their biology).
Trade war - When countries try to damage each other's trades. They can do this by placing tariffs (taxes) on goods or quota restrictions.
Democracy - A system of government based on the idea of rule by the people.
Executive orders - In the US, orders written by the president that does not require approval from the legislature, Congress.
Congress - The legislative branch of the American government, where elected representatives vote on which laws should be passed. Congress is made up of two chambers: the Senate, which contains two members from each of the 50 states, and the House of Representatives, which has representatives from 435 smaller districts.
Lackeys - A person who is or acts like a weak servant of someone powerful.
Hungary - A country in central Europe. Viktor Orban has been its prime minister since 2010.
Kennedy Centre - The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is the living memorial to President Kennedy and America's premier performing arts center in Washington, DC.
Authoritarianism - A form of government in which individual freedoms are severely limited by government power. Examples include Nazi Germany, Khmer Rogue Cambodia and contemporary China.
