Volodymyr Zelensky - Zelensky won more than 73% of the vote to become Ukrainian President in April 2019. Incredibly, he once starred in a satirical drama in which his character accidentally wins the Ukrainian presidency.
Winston Churchill - The British prime minister during World War Two, and later from 1951 to 1955.
parliament - An assembly of representatives, usually of an entire nation, that makes laws.
Woo - To seek favour or support.
Gullible - Easily fooled.
Snubbed - Ignored or dismissed as unimportant.
Ballistic - Literally flying, but more usually used to mean extremely angry.
Approval rating - A simple test of popularity that calculates the difference in the percentage of people who approve and disapprove of a politician.
Propaganda - Information, which may be biased or misleading, used to promote a certain viewpoint.
Ostracised - Excluded from a group.
Alliances - Relationships based on similar interests.
Transactional - Relating to the exchange of goods for money.
Perilous - Dangerous.
Stalemate - A position in chess where neither player can win. It derives from the Old English stale, meaning a position, and Persian mat, meaning dead.
Flux - Continuous change.
Equilibrium - A state of balance between opposing forces.
