Same sex relationships. Sexual assault. Teenagers who are asking questions about their genderA person's gender identity (whether they feel like a man, woman or something else) is not the same as their biological sex (which is determined by genitals, hormones or chromosomes)..

In the past, these were things that few people were willing to talk about it. But they are all part of Sex Education. The show's final series was released on Netflix at the end of last week.

Experts say Sex Education is part of a new trend for "kind TV". In the show, students talk through any worries they have. They accept that not everyone is the same, and find joy in the differences they have.

Another example is Heartstopper. The popular TV series showed a positive love story between two teenage boys.

It is very different to the culture of the past. And some say the TV shows they like show that Generation ZPeople born between the late 1990s and early 2010s. are much kinder and more open than their parents and grandparents. Today, many younger people campaign for a more accepting society - and for more action to help the planet.

But others say that Gen Z are not the kindest generationA big group of people who were all born at the same time.. In fact, some young people today are criticised for being intolerantNot open to people, beliefs or ideas that are different to your own. to people who do not agree with them. They are more likely than older people to think that any ideas they disagree with should not be heard at all.

There is one important thing to remember. Gen Z is still a very young group of people. How they think could change over time.

Yes! Gen Z are much kinder than their parents and grandparents. They accept people no matter who they are and care for the planet.

No! Gen Z like to talk about being kind. But they are only kind to the people they agree with. True kindness would involve listening to people with lots of different ideas.
