Let’s work together to end conflict

From international conflict to postcode wars, peace can seem far away. Subhan, 15, from Coventry Alternative Provision Academy, says we need to work together for peace.

Conflict can take many forms. It can be a personal argument or disagreement that can end in a fight or it can be a loud argument between two friends.

The most terrifying type of conflict is a war between two countries. I have seen my beautiful homeland torn apart by war, families destroyed and property bombed and burnt to hell all for what?

I have seen politicians threatened and shot and imprisoned. People in my home country, Pakistan, are very nervous and frightened about the conflict with India and the prospect of nuclear war.

Why kill millions of people with a disagreement that started between two people.

As the famous Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who was a barrister, politician, and the founder of Pakistan, said:“Think 100 times before you take a decision, But once that decision is taken, stand by it as one man.”

In my life as a young student, I have seen many fights in school based on gang culture and postcode wars. The end game for this type of conflict is serious injury or death. Do these young people ever think of their mother crying over their dead body in a morgue?

“Democracy is in the blood of the Muslims, who look upon complete equality of mankind, and believe in fraternity, equality, and liberty.”

In my heart, I wish that all personal conflict could be sorted out instantly with one word that would melt anger, rage, hatred and violence.

The one word is PEACE or AMAN.
