HARROGATE, ENGLAND - APRIL 19: Rupert North wears the ‘floral’ coronation cloak, designed by award-winning, Harrogate based florist Helen James during a photo call on staging day of the Spring Flower Show on April 19, 2023 in Harrogate, England. The Coronation cloak is created using an array of flowers and will be the centrepiece of the show. Worn alongside the cloak are replicas of the St Edward’s Crown, Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross, and Sovereign’s Orb, all of which were originally created for King Charles II in 1660 by Sir Robert Vyner, an ancestor of the Crompton family. The flower show, organised by the North of England Horticultural Society, ushers in the season of major gardening events across the country. The main theme for the show this year is to celebrate the forthcoming Coronation of King Charles III. The show will feature full-sized show gardens, displays by nearly 100 of the country’s top plant nurseries, guest appearances and Britain’s biggest exhibition of flower arranging and floristry. Welcoming up to 50,000 visitors across the four days, Harrogate Spring Flower Shows is one of the most highly anticipated events in the gardening calendar. Set in the Great Yorkshire Showground, the show takes place on 20 – 23 April 2023 and will feature favourites plant nurseries, garden features, live theatre and Britain’s biggest display of spring blooms.
