Islamic Revolution - Also known as the Iranian Revolution. An uprising in 1978-9 that saw the overthrowing of Iran's monarchy and the creation of an Islamic republic.
Shah - The title given to the king or emperor of Iran in the past.
USSR - The United Socialist Soviet Republic, the USA’s main rival in the Cold War before it collapsed and broke up into a number of smaller states in 1991.
Diehard - A person who is very strongly dedicated to a set of beliefs and refuses to change their mind, no matter what.
