Why was Anne Frank’s diary published?

Anne Frank began her diary on her 13th birthday, as an ordinary German-Jewish girl living in the Netherlands. But her life was soon turned upside down when she and her family were forced to hide from the Nazis. Anne and her older sister Margot did not survive the war.
