What happened during the Armenian genocide?

During World War One, the Ottoman Empire killed more than one million Armenians. Many others were forced to convert to Islam, losing their identity and culture. This genocide devastated the Armenian population. And there are still people today who refuse to acknowledge it happened. This short video from TED-Ed explains what happened and why.
