Hackers - Somebody who breaks into computer systems and gets hold of data they are allowed to see. They often then blackmail the group they have stolen data from, and ask for money in return for their data back.
Ministry of Defence - In the UK, the government department in charge of defence. It serves as the British Army HQ.
Government - The group of people who govern - or lead - the country.
Xi Jinping - The president of China, who has concentrated power and removed term limits allowing him to serve for life.
Serbia - A country in south-eastern Europe that gained its independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1878.
Global South - A term increasingly used to describe less-developed countries, most of which are south of a line that separates, on different continents, the USA from Mexico, Europe from Africa, and Russia from central Asia and China.
Nato - The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation was founded in 1949 to unite Western democracies in Europe and North America against the perceived growing threat of the USSR. It now has 31 members.
allies - An ally is someone that aligns with and supports a cause with another individual or group of people.
Economy - The way that money flows through a country, which affects wages and the cost of living.
