Is fast fashion immoral? A documentary shown on TV last night accuses Boohoo of treating the people who make its clothes shamefully, despite saying that it would do better.

"I'm undercoverDoing secret work inside a company or group, not revealing who you really are. at fashion giant Boohoo," says BBC reporter Emma Lowther. "The company's built its reputation on selling cheap, on-trend clothes. It promised to change." Her conclusion? It had not.
She was filming a TV show about the company, three years on from when journalists reported that workers making clothes for Boohoo were paid as little as £3.50 an hour.
Later that year the company made a promise to pay the factories that make their clothes fairly, so that the workers at these factories can be paid fairly too.
But Emma Lowther found that Boohoo was still trying to lower prices all the time. They sometimes even gave suppliers less money than they had agreed.
Boohoo had also cut the time it allowed the suppliers to make the clothes, to as little as six weeks.
