Now, Azerbaijan's soldiers have taken over Nagorno-Karabakh, and many Armenians are afraid.
The conflictA state of disagreement when there is a difference of interests, values or goals. between the two countries has a very long history, going back more than 100 years.
But in 1991, Azerbaijan and Armenia went to war over the area. Armenia won. Then in 2020 the war started again. Azerbaijan took over some parts, and last month they ended self-rule by Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Yes! Human beings want to look after each other. If everybody had all the things they needed to live a good life, nobody would go to war.
No! There will always be powerful people who want more power - and go to war to try and get it. Humans cannot seem to live in peace.
