My dad never knew his dad.
Instead he had this incredible grandad who always made people feel special.
My great grandad whom I never met was a hard working blacksmith. He had a talent of bringing natural beauty into the iron and steel he worked with. He forged salubrious benches and added to sky height towers bold windows replete with colours.
Not only did he forged iron and steel but he forged a faith that you always had someone on your side and would be there no matter what.
He teaches my dad that when times are tough, when times are hard, you need someone to remind you to push past, to see it through.
You see my dad's dad did not fought for. He always fought against and that's what made my great granddad the dad, my dad never had.
He forged my dad.
He forged loyalty, he forged playfulness.
He forged adventure.
Weaving us closer together as we explore from forest to beach.
Connecting us like how the great Sequoia is still connected to the tiny saplings.
My brother carries his name, he carries his life story and what he carries makes a difference for the future us.
My great grandad is called great for a reason; he didn't let a fire of Hope and Strength dissolve into nothing. Instead he turned a spark into a wildfire and that's what made my dad, the great DAD he is.
