In school, we went to The Monument recently to learn about the Great Fire of London.
We climbed 311 steps of the Monument.
Phew we felt so tired!
In the evening my mum told me about Violet Piercey, England's first long distance marathon runner!
I love running too!
People during that time used to think that women could only run 100 metres but Violet Piercey proved the world that women could run more than just 100 metres and for long distances.
Violet Piercey was so strong and fit and she ran from Windsor to London and broke men's records.
Guess What!
She also ran for many miles to the Monument and climbed the 311 steps very quickly.
She motivated young girls to participate in sports.
Just like Violet Piercey, I love running and skipping too, and I'll never give up.
