Salvo - Shooting multiple weapons at once, often with the aim of bringing down a target in a single blow.
Lebanon - A small country on the eastern Mediterranean coast that has been in the grip of an economic crisis for over a year. It has a native population of just 4.7 million, but migrants and refugees have brought its total population up to almost 7 million.
Hezbollah - A militant organisation based in Lebanon, classified in the UK as a terrorist group. It has made direct attacks on Israel and is believed to have been responsible for assassinating Lebanon's former Prime Minister Rafic Hariri.
Ally - A person or group that cooperates with or supports another for a common purpose.
Leverage - The power to influence a situation or to use something to get what you want.
Kyiv - The capital of Ukraine.
Junta - A government that has taken control by force. It derives from a Spanish word meaning “council”.
Myanmar - The largest country in mainland south-east Asia, formerly known as Burma. It is an ethnically diverse place, something that has often resulted in fierce conflict.
Nazi - A German political party of the twentieth century, led by Adolf Hitler. The Nazis controlled Germany from the early 1930s until the end of World War Two.
