Vincent van Gogh - A Dutch artist who painted The Starry Night in 1889 while staying in a French mental asylum after suffering a breakdown. He died by suicide the following year.
Francis Bacon - An English philosopher, writer, scientist, lawyer, and politician (1561-1626).

Daoist - Also known as Taoist. A great religious and philosophical tradition of China, emphasising living in harmony.
Friedrich Nietzsche - A German classical scholar, philosopher, and critic of culture (1844 – 1900), who became one of the most influential of all modern thinkers.
Survival of the fittest - A term made famous by Charles Darwin, suggesting that individuals or species best adapted to their environment are the most likely to survive and reproduce.
Quantum physics - The study of matter and energy on the atomic and subatomic level.
