You might think this is the story of UkraineA country in Eastern Europe. It was invaded by Russia in February 2022. of SyriaA Middle Eastern country that was the site of much of the fighting during the Crusades.. But you would be wrong. 

The war in EthiopiaA landlocked country in Africa. With a population of about 120 million, Ethiopia represents a melting pot of ancient cultures. is the deadliest war of the 21st Century so far. A peace deal was signed to end the fighting at the end of last year, but the war has changed many people's lives forever.

The fighting started in November 2020, when Ethiopia's leader Abiy Ahmed sent the army into a northern part of the country called Tigray. He said that the Tigray People's LiberationThe act of setting people free. Front, a group which controlled Tigray, had attacked army bases there.

However, many people still do not know much about the Ethiopia war. Some call it the "forgotten war".

Some say this is because Ethiopia's leaders made it hard to find out news about the war. Others say it is because stories about Africa have long been left out of Western newspapers and news websites.
