'Witness' from space hints at origin of life
Could humans already be living on other planets? Scientists have analysed a meteorite that landed in England last year, and found hints that aliens might not be too different to us.
What's happening?
A meteorite that landed in Gloucestershire last year contains water which is very similar to the water we have on Earth. If space objects can carry water to planets across the universe, there might be life out there like ours.
Water is needed to produce life. That is why it makes up 60% of our bodies. Scientists think that the presence of water in the meteorite proves that asteroids or meteors brought water to Earth many years ago.
This means that they could have taken water to other planets too, which means that other planets could also have life.
If other planets created life in the same way as Earth, this means that their aliens could even look the same as us. They could have confronted a similar environment to us, and evolved in the same way.

Some scientists say it is impossible that a human-like alien could have developed on a different planet because evolution always happens differently.
But others claim that there is proof that evolution can happen in the same way even in opposite corners of the universe, if the environment is similar enough. This means there could be an alien out there that looks just like you.
Yes! If they came to life in the same way and had a similar environment, there is no reason why they should not look like us.
No! There is not even any evidence that aliens exist yet, and it is even less likely that they will be the same as humans.
