Yesterday the human race reached a milestone. For the first time, there were more than 8 billion people on our planet.
That is 1 billion more than in 2011. By the 2080s there could be over 10 billion.
After that, though, experts think the number will start to drop.

But every extra person uses up more food and energy. Some people say the best thing you can do for the planet is not have children.
