What's happening?
Photographers around the world are entering a contest. It is the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition.
This year, there is a special award called People's Choice. It means that everyone can vote on their favourite!

More than 50,000 people have entered the competition. Their photos come from 65 countries.
Now, the public gets to choose from just 25 of the best.
The pictures are very varied. One is a close-up of meerkats. Another shows a bear cub asleep next to an eagle.
There are big animals elephants, tapirs and zebra. There are tiny insects and birds.
Fans of the competition say it teaches us about wildlife. One photo shows a jaguar that survived a forest fire.
But others say the best way to find out about nature is to explore it ourselves.
Can photos bring us closer to nature?
Some say
Yes! The pictures help us find out about animals and places far away. We can learn much more about the world and nature!
Others think
No. It is better to go outside and find wildlife where you live. Looking at pictures is great but it does not tell us what nature is really like.
