What's happening? 

Tori Tsui was a long way from home. She was on a boat in the Atlantic Ocean. On board were 41 climate activists. They were on their way to Chile for a climate meeting. 

But suddenly, the news came that the meeting was going to be in Spain. It was too late to turn back. Tori and the others stopped in the Caribbean. But they still made their point. Travelling on planes was bad for the climate.

Tori is 27. She comes from Hong Kong. Growing up in the city, she saw how pollution harmed the sky. 

She studied at school and university. She became an activist. She moved to Bristol because it was the first city ever to declare a climate emergency. 

But in 2020, the pandemic changed her life. Lots of people said it was good for the planet. Planes stopped. People drove around less. 

But Tori says Covid should make us more worried about the earth. People are still cutting down trees. She says the pandemic is now her biggest worry. 

Has the pandemic undermined justice? 

Some say 

Yes! The news about the climate crisis was very big in 2019. But Covid has been the only thing we have worried about since 2020. People harming the environment have got away with it! 

Others think 

No. Lockdowns made a big difference. And they showed us how much we can change by stopping flights. World leaders want to fix the problem. That is why they are going to the climate summit this week!
