This week is the United NationsAn international organisation focused on keeping peace. Its refugee agency, the UNHCR, aims to assist refugees around the world. Disarmament Week. It is calling for countries to give up nuclear weapons. The group says it will lead to a more peaceful world. 

There are several reasons why countries do not want to give up their weapons. One of the main ones is security - if one country fears another will fight back with nuclear weapons, they will not launch an attack. 

But others say the fact that the weapons exist makes the world a more dangerous place. They say the money spent on weapons, both nuclear and non-nuclear, would be better spent on things like education and healthcare.
