This year, Diwali is in the same week as Bonfire Night in the UK. There, people spend £500m on them each November.
People around the world use fireworks to mark exciting occasions.
But they are not perfect. They can be dangerous. And they are bad for the environment. In Indian cities, fireworks at Diwali cause pollution.

Yes. Fireworks cause lots of problems. They can harm wildlife. They pollute the sky. And they can hurt people. It is not worth it for two minutes of loud bangs and bright colours!
