What's happening?

Italy is about to have a new leader. Her name is Giorgia Meloni. Yesterday, her party, Brothers of ItalyA right-wing populist party that split off from the mainstream conservative party The People of Freedom in 2012., won the vote of more than one in four Italians. 

Meloni will be Italy's first female leader. But Brothers of Italy will rule with a group of other parties with similar ideas. 

Brothers of Italy is part of the far right. Many far right groups are against people moving to their countries. Some are also clearly racistBelieving that a person's skin colour makes them better than others. , homophobicShowing a dislike for gay people. and against the rights of women. They prefer a style of power where the rulers have a lot of control over the people.

Brothers of Italy leaders believe in ruling for "God, fatherland and family".

The far right had a lot of power in Europe in the 1900s. But people thought they would soon disappear.
