Can the universe ever be simple?

For centuries, humans have tried – and failed – to find a theory that explains everything about the universe. Several ideas exist. But they tend to contradict each other. Speaking to BBC Ideas, theoretical physicist Michio Kaku explains why he thinks string theory is the best way to understand how the universe works.
