But if you go and buy a new copy of Roald Dahl's books, you may notice something different.

The company that prints new copies of the books, Puffin Books, have made hundreds of changes.

Women characters who worked at supermarkets are now scientists and businesspeople. The words "black" and "white" have been taken out, even when they are not describing skin colour. And none of the books talk about anyone's weight.

Roald Dahl wrote his books many years ago. Puffin says they have changed the words to make sure everyone can enjoy them today.

Many think it is a good idea. They point out that it is hard for readers to enjoy books that make fun of people like them.

And Puffin are a business. If people do not like the old words, they will not buy the books and the company will lose out on money.

But others say they have gone too far. CriticsPeople who disagreee, or think something is wrong. say Puffin have made the books boring - and that children can work out what is right and wrong for themselves.

Yes! Roald Dahl's books were written in a different time. Today, we want to send a new message to children. It is good to update books so everyone can still enjoy them.

No! Children are much smarter than most people think. Adults should let them read Roald Dahl's versions - as he wanted people to read them. Children understand what is right and wrong.
