World War One

It was November 11, 1918, when the guns finally fell silent. After four years of war, Europe was at peace once again. The First World War was a global conflict, involving dozens of nations and millions of soldiers. Now, the world is marking 100 years since the armistice was agreed. In the UK, The Royal British Legion is leading a campaign to say “Thank You” to the men and women of that generation. Below you will find key First World War themes, written in association with TRBL, including stories and activities. The Royal British Legion has also created free downloadable assemblies and lesson plans with the National Literacy Trust, designed for Key Stages 2, 3 and 4.
